Join the Data Quality Conversation at NCQA’s Health Plan Convening
July 8, 2026 · NCQA Communications
Health plans are operating in a complex and rapidly changing environment. As more clinical data streams open up for quality reporting and care management, challenges persist in measuring the quality of these new data sources. NCQA has been exploring ways to improve data quality while reducing the burden of manual data verification (e.g., primary source verification). We recently launched our first product offering related to automated data quality assessment, NCQA Data Quality Solutions.
While health IT vendors, health information exchanges and technology partners have engaged in early collaboration and implementation efforts, it is critical for health plans to participate in this transition. Health plans are the ultimate consumers of validated data for quality reporting and care management, and they are directly impacted by changes to HEDIS audit, validation and data confidence expectations.
That is why NCQA is launching a Health Plan Data Quality Convening to engage health plans in shaping the priorities, expectations and guardrails of NCQA’s evolving data quality roadmap.
How the Data Quality Convening Works
The convening is intended to surface actionable insights that promote alignment across the industry and inform NCQA’s evolving role in digital quality. It will help ensure that health plans have a meaningful and early voice in the evolution of NCQA’s data quality programs before approaches are finalized.
Through facilitated, discussion-based sessions, organizations will share real-world experiences and collaborate to identify practical approaches that support more reliable, scalable and trusted data for quality measurement. The convening will:
- Gather information about how health plans are managing data quality across disparate data sources and workflows.
- Identify common challenges in ensuring accuracy, completeness and consistency of data used for quality measurement.
- Explore approaches to validation, audit readiness and data exchange.
- Inform the development of practical, scalable frameworks that support trusted, comparable measurement.
Participants will take part in three virtual sessions from August through November 2026, where they will share information about their organization’s approach to data quality. NCQA will treat all shared information as confidential.
Benefits of Participating in the Data Quality Convening
The convening will include leaders from health plans of various sizes that use a range of technology platforms and clinical data-sharing models. Participating organizations can:
- Play a direct role in shaping NCQA’s data quality strategy.
- Provide input on frameworks that may influence future expectations and guidance.
- Learn from peer organizations facing similar challenges.
- Contribute to emerging best practices in data quality and digital measurement.
