July 10, 2025 · Becky Kolinski

NCQA has made updates to The State of Health Care Quality Report, a free online resource:

  • National benchmark data for MY 2023 are now available. MY 2024 data will be added in February 2026, but can be accessed sooner through NCQA’s Quality Compass®.
  • We added newly released measures for MY 2025, including definitions and background on each measure. (National averages for new measures are not yet available.)
  • We moved measure definitions and national averages for retired HEDIS measures to a new section.

Fun Fact: NCQA released the first Managed Care Quality Report in 1997. A year later, we renamed it The State of Health Care Quality Report to change its focus from cost to quality and value. Dozens of reporters picked up the story: the AP, The New York Times, The Washington Post, broadcast news, radio. The shift in health care had begun.
