Person-Centered Care in Selma and Montgomery, Alabama

January 29, 2020 · Lawrence Green

NCQA traveled to Selma and Montgomery, Alabama, to learn how the state’s Medicaid Agency is spearheading an effort to improve the quality of care at its 13 Area Agencies on Aging.

NCQA Accreditation of Case Management for Long-Term Services and Supports helps support organizations that coordinate LTSS by providing a framework for quality improvement. To improve standardization and integration of person-centered care, the Alabama Medicaid Agency used ACL No Wrong Door Grant funding for the state’s Area Agencies on Aging to earn the NCQA Accreditation.

In the video below , you will see how the Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission implements person-centered care for its clients and how it benefited from participating in NCQA’s LTSS Best Practices Academy, an interactive forum for professionals to strategize on coordinating quality LTSS programs.
