The Measurement Value Chain: Patient Data, Measurement & Quality Improvement
The Summit convenes quality improvement stakeholders including senior decision makers, measure development experts, clinicians, government agencies, public health officials, data intermediaries, vendors and payers to advance measure interoperability solutions.
Summit participants will work together to improve coordination across disciplines and communication of health care information systems through quality measurement as the use case.
Margaret E. O’Kane is founder and president of NCQA. She is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, and has received the Picker Institute Individual Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Patient-Centered Care, as well as the Gail L. Warden Leadership Excellence Award from the National Center for Healthcare Leadership. Modern Healthcare magazine has named O’Kane one of the “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” 12 times.
David Blumenthal, MD, MPP, is president of The Commonwealth Fund, a national philanthropy engaged in research on health and social policy issues. He was formerly National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, where he built one of the largest publicly funded infrastructure investments. He has authored a number of books and scholarly publications and serves on numerous editorial boards.
Chris DeRienzo, MD, MPP, FAAP is the Chief Quality Officer for Mission Health. He has senior executive responsibility for quality, safety and service excellence across a $1.8 billion integrated health system. He is also a practicing neonatologist with Mission Children’s Specialists, an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics with both the Duke University and University of North Carolina School of Medicine, and serves on the Board of Directors for Blue Ridge Regional Hospital and the Mercy Health Board Quality Committee. Dr. DeRienzo has received multiple clinical and teaching awards along with both public and private grant support for his research.
Charles Jaffe, MD, PhD, is Chief Executive Officer of HL7. He was previously Senior Global Strategist for the Digital Health Group at Intel Corporation and Vice President of Life Sciences at SAIC. He has been the principal investigator for more than 200 clinical trials and has served multiple leadership roles in the American Medical Informatics Association. He was also a board member for leading organizations in information technology standards and has been a contributing editor for several journals.
Blackford Middleton, MD, MPH, MSc, FACP, FACMI, FHIMSS, is Chief Informatics and Innovation at Apervita, Inc. and an instructor at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health in the Departments of Health Policy and Management and Policy Translation and Leadership Development. Dr. Middleton is nationally and internationally recognized as a thought leader in clinical informatics and health care technology. He was recognized as one of the Top 100 Healthcare CIOs in 2014 and one of the Top 50 People to Know in Health IT in 2015 by Becker’s Hospital Review.
