Good News for Health Plans That Use NCQA’s MA Deeming Module

November 3, 2014 · NCQA

CMS has extended NCQA’s status as an approved accreditor for Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid plans, for six years. This means that Medicare Advantage plans coming through NCQA’s MA Deeming Module (an add-on to the NCQA Accreditation program) are considered by Medicare to meet requirements for:

  • Quality assurance programs;
  • Antidiscrimination;
  • Access to services;
  • Confidentiality and accuracy of records;
  • Information on advance directives; and
  • Provider participation rules.

CMS approval continues states’ option to use NCQA Accreditation to meet federal “deem-able” Medicaid External Quality Review requirements. See the NCQA Medicaid Managed Care Toolkit for more information.
