Anne Marie Smith, MHA
Assistant Vice President, Performance Measurement, NCQA
Anne Smith is an Assistant Vice President in Performance Measurement at the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). She assists in the annual updates for the electronic clinical quality measures (eCQM) used in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) programs and oversees the annual production of HEDIS products, including the digital measure packages.
Prior to joining NCQA, Anne was Project Analyst at UnitedHealthCare where she worked to ensure data validity as a liaison between research sponsors and programming staff. Research projects included a Stroke PORT for the AHCPR, “Evaluation of Treatment Outcome for Children with Acute Otitis Media Using an HMO Claims Database” with the Center for Disease Control, and a clinical profiling pilot project. Eventually, Anne focused on managing the integration of data and production of HEDIS reports for UnitedHealthCare health plans.
In addition, she participated in several NCQA committees, including the Technical Advisory Group and the Audit Methodology Panel. Anne holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Olaf College and a Masters in Health Administration with an emphasis in Health Informatics from the University of Phoenix.
Linda Michaelsen
Director, Healthcare Interoperability Standards, Optum
Linda Michaelsen is Optum’s Director of Healthcare Interoperability Standards. She has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Linda is the key voting member representing Optum’s HL7 membership and leads UHG’s organization’s HL7 Interoperability Community of Practice.
Since 2008, Linda has worked with Optum Data Exchange (ODX) as a Subject Matter Expert. She is certified in the most common HL7 standards, v2, CDA and FHIR and has experience with the IHE transactions. Linda is the co-chair of the HL7 CDA Management Group. Participating in the Da Vinci Project, Linda has been a facilitator, Use Case co-lead and Implementation Guide Author winning one of the first Da Vinci Community Champion awards in 2021. Additionally, she is Optum’s representative on the Argonaut Steering Committee and is a member of the ONC’s FAST (FHIR at Scale Taskforce) Coordinating Committee.
Before working with clinical healthcare data, Linda was a part of the Claredi startup which created the HIPAA X12 validation products. She has worked with all HIPAA and several non-HIPAA X12 standards including the X12 275 attachment transaction.
Prior to her career with Optum, Linda was part of the Healtheon/WebMD. She has also worked for a clearinghouse, an insurer, and was part of a startup practice management system company purchased by Alcon Laboratories. Her career started working for a pathologist during high school and college and later worked for a world-renowned spine surgeon.
Additionally, Linda is an AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and a Certified Toastmaster.
