Advancing Care for Chronic Kidney Disease

In January 2025, NCQA convened a panel of experts—primary care clinicians, nephrologists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, pharmacists, patient representatives—to discuss ways to drive improvement in the quality of care for people with CKD. This white paper captures the dynamic discussions and insights from the convening, presenting actionable recommendations to close CKD care gaps and charting a roadmap for future quality measures.

Thanks to our panel of experts for sharing their knowledge and insights. This research is made possible with support from Boehringer Ingelheim and Novo Nordisk.

This State of Healthcare Quality Report classifies health plans differently than NCQA’s Quality Compass. HMO corresponds to All LOBs (excluding PPO and EPO) within Quality Compass. PPO corresponds to PPO and EPO within Quality Compass.

Figures do not account for changes in the underlying measure that could break trending. Contact Information Products via my.ncqa.org for analysis that accounts for trend breaks.
