About the On-Demand Training

This session on Comprehensive Diabetes Care (CDC) is the first in a series of webinars that focuses on measures that cause frequently asked questions. In this session, faculty presents the background of the measure and the intent, discusses specifications and reveals some of the common pitfalls in medical record review.

Faculty

Cindy Ottone
Director, Policy, Product Development, NCQA

Cindy Ottone supports the development and implementation of the HEDIS Products as well as other NCQA measures. Ms. Ottone represents the policy perspective on several NCQA projects including the Measure Advisory Panels, the Audit Methodology Panel, HEDIS Data Submission and Pay for Performance. She also supports areas where NCQA measures are used in other organizations’ programs including: QRS/Marketplaces, CHIPRA Core Set, PQRS and NQF. As the HEDIS director, she also supervises staff answering NCQA customers and constituents through the HEDIS Policy Clarification Support system and Frequently Asked Questions.

Ms. Ottone received her Bachelor of Arts in Health Science and Policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She received a Master of Health Administration from the University of South Carolina, School of Public Health.

Daniel Roman
Senior Research Associate, Performance Measurement, NCQA

Daniel Roman is the project manager for the maintenance and development of quality performance measures for NCQA. Mr. Roman focuses on measure development related to cardiovascular and diabetes care, as well as care coordination. Additionally, he supports efforts to develop and evaluate performance measures for the Medicare Advantage Part C Plan Rating program, Medicaid Managed Long Term Services and Supports Plans and the Medicare-Medicaid Dual Eligible population.

Prior to joining NCQA, Mr. Roman was a Senior Specialist at the American College of Cardiology. In this position, he focused on research projects and pilot initiatives related to health information technology. He also supported the development of clinical practice guidelines, performance measures and data standards. Roman holds a B.S. in Biology from the Pennsylvania State University.
