How A Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Behavioral Health Distinction Can Position IBH Best Practices

This course is an opportunity to learn how the Care Transformation Collaborative of Rhode Island helped integrated behavioral health (IBH) practices respond to COVID by tele-IBH implementation and earn Behavioral Health Distinction. Areas of focus include working with state and payers to align expectations across the health care system for IBH and sustainability; developing and implementing a 12-month tele-IBH learning collaborative that gives PCMH practices an opportunity to test tele-IBH workflows while working toward earning Behavioral Health Distinction; and developing practical tools to strategically approach earning Behavioral Health Distinction.

Nelly Burdette, PsyD, has created integrated care programs at federally qualified health centers, community mental health centers, specialty mental health settings and the Veterans Administration. From positions in senior leadership to providing clinical services embedded in medical practices, she has provided training and supervision to a range of health providers in both basic and intermediate principles of integrated behavioral health. Dr. Burdette is the Associate Vice President of Integrated Behavioral Health at Providence Community Health Centers (PCHC), the largest federally qualified health center in Rhode Island. She serves in both a leadership and clinical role at PCHC and is a Senior Integrated Behavioral Health Program Leader at CTC-RI (Care Transformation Collaborative Rhode Island), a non-profit collaborative aimed at improving how primary care is delivered in RI. Dr. Burdette earned her Doctorate in Health Psychology from Spalding University and completed her internship at Cherokee Health Systems, with a focus on delivering behavioral health services within a primary care safety net population. She completed her two-year post-doctorate in Primary Care Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Jennifer M Etue, LICSW 
Manager/Float Provider Integrated Behavioral Health

Jennifer Etue, LICSW, is Manager of the Integrated Behavioral Health department at Providence Community Health Centers (PCHC). She provides clinical services at all PCHC health centers and supports and manages all IBH clinicians. She also serves as a consultant with the Care Transformation Collaborative of Rhode Island. She has a wealth of crisis intervention, short/long term treatment experience and specialization in trauma informed services. Ms. Etue received her BS in Sociology from the State University of New York at New Paltz and her MSW from SUNY Albany.

Continuing Education

In support of improving patient care, the National Committee for Quality Assurance is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) to provide Interprofessional Continuing Education for the healthcare team.
