Faculty

Cindy Ottone, MHA

Ms. Ottone is the Director of Policy Measures in Performance Measurement Department of the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

In her current position, Ms. Ottone supports the development and implementation of the HEDIS Products, as well as other NCQA measures. Ms. Ottone represents the policy perspective on several NCQA projects including the Measure Advisory Panels, the Audit Methodology Panel and HEDIS Data Submission. Ms. Ottone also supports areas where NCQA measures are used in other organizations’ programs including: QRS/Marketplaces, CHIPRA Core Set, QPP and NQF. As the HEDIS director, she also supervises staff answering NCQA customers and constituents through the HEDIS Policy Clarification Support system and Frequently Asked Questions.    

 Prior to working at NCQA, Ms. Ottone has worked with health plans and physician practices. Ms. Ottone was assigned to quality measurement and improvement at Companion HealthCare, a Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO. While at Companion, Ms. Ottone focused her efforts on HEDIS measurement and reporting, Disease Management Programs, and Quality Improvement Activities in both the clinical and operations areas. Ms. Ottone has also worked in large provider practices with their billing systems and strategic planning.  

Ms. Ottone received her Bachelor of Arts in Health Science and Policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.  She received a Master of Health Administration from the University of South Carolina, School of Public Health. Ms. Ottone is on the Board of Trustees at Palmetto Richland Hospital and has previously served as adjunct faculty at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and University of South Carolina School of Public Health.

Currently, Ms. Ottone serves her community as a Trustee on the Richland Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and the Prisma Health Midlands Board of Directors.
