DAVIS ELECTED TO NCQA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
General Mills Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources Joins NCQA Board

WASHINGTON—The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) announced today that Michael L. Davis, senior vice president of Global Human Resources at General Mills, has been elected to its Board of Directors. Mr. Davis has extensive experience leading the health care strategy for the world’s sixth largest food company.

Prior to Davis’ current position at General Mills, he served for nine years as the company’s vice president for Compensation & Benefits. Davis is an author and frequent speaker on executive and director compensation and benefits issues. He is vice chairman of the Board of Directors of the Employee Benefits Research Institute and is on the Board of the National Business Group on Health.

“For a long time, Mike has been asking all the right questions about health care from the perspective of the employer,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. “His experience as a major purchaser will be invaluable, especially given the current economic challenges we all face. I’m looking forward to his contributions as a Board member.”

Before joining General Mills, Davis worked for 15 years as a compensation consultant with Towers Perrin. He has two B.S. degrees from Purdue University and an MBA in accounting and finance from the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

NCQA also thanks three individuals for their service in improving health care quality through their work as former NCQA Board members. Ellen Stovall, President and CEO of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship; Robert Galvin, M.D., Director of Global Healthcare for General Electric; and former King County Executive Ron Sims have all retired from the Board in recent months.

NCQA’s 15-member Board plays a key role in setting the organization’s agenda and oversees its work and programs. The Board is currently comprised of influential individuals from across the country including leaders of consumer groups, health care organizations, employers, academia and the public sector. The Board is chaired by John Tooker, M.D., MBA, FACP, Executive Vice President and CEO of the American College of Physicians.

NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations and recognizes physicians in key clinical areas. NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) is the most widely used performance measurement tool in health care. NCQA is committed to providing health care quality information through the Web, media and data licensing agreements in order to help consumers, employers and others make more informed health care choices.
