"A thoughtful resource for many business leaders who can easily become jaded to the transactional nature of health care."

This report summarizes HEDIS results from calendar year 2013, collected from a record 814 HMOs and 353 PPOs. It includes NCQA's latest findings about the nation's health care system, notably:

  • Almost half of quality measures show significant, long-term improvement.
  • Populations have doubled in health plans that report quality results.
  • A few bright spots on overuse and appropriateness.
  • Poor results but a promising future for behavioral health.
  • Progress is stalled in many areas; a handful show consistent, significant decline.
Quality Profiles: Focus on the Patient-Centered Medical Home

This collaboration with Pfizer Inc. provides practical examples of how Patient-Centered Medical Home can help improve health care quality and value. It includes case studies of successful medical home initiatives and guides practices hoping to become patient-centered medical homes. The case studies showcase high-performing practices that are addressing contemporary challenges in primary care, and that have also earned NCQA’s highest medical home designation, PCMH Level 3 Recognition.
