SIXTEEN VENDORS SEEK NCQA HEDIS SOFTWARE CERTIFICATIONSM FOR 2009
Certification exempts vendors’ clients from source code review during a HEDIS® Compliance Audit™ and P4P Audit Review™
WASHINGTON—The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) announced today that 16 software vendors will seek certification for Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDISâ) and Pay for Performance (P4P)-related software. Such software programs collect relevant data from health plan databases and calculate rates for health care measures that assess the quality of service and care.
Vendors who achieve HEDIS Software Certification are exempt from manual source code review by NCQA auditors during the HEDIS Compliance Audit and P4P Audit Review.
This year’s Software Certification includes four new performance measures added to the HEDIS 2009 measurement set:
-
Adult Body Mass Index (BMI) Assessment
-
Weight Assessment and Counseling for Nutrition and Physical Activity for Children/Adolescents
-
Care for Older Adults
-
Medication Reconciliation Post-Discharge
“Certified vendors demonstrate their software can reliably gather the most correct results possible,” said Mary Braman, Director, Licensure and Certification. “Health plans contracting with a NCQA-Certified software vendor have the peace of mind knowing that their data is accurate and reliable.”
Nine of the 16 vendors are seeking certification that tests the Integrated Healthcare Association’s California Pay for Performance (P4P) clinical measures, a subset of HEDIS.
As in previous years, Catalyst Technologies, Inc. and TierMed Systems, LLC are serving as beta test sites in preparation for this year’s testing.
