Keynote Address: "History, Cardiac Technology, and Dilemmas for Health Policy"

David Jones is the director for the Center for the Study of Diversity in Science, Technology, and Medicine at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Jones is a professor and researcher who has organized a successful series of conferences based on race, science, and technology.

Jones’ initial research focused on epidemics among American Indians. He has also examined human subjects research, Cold War medicine, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and the history of cardiac surgery. His current research explores the history of decision making in cardiac therapeutics. This research is supported by an Investigator Award in Health Policy Research from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Jones holds a Ph.D. in the history of science at Harvard University and an M.D. at Harvard Medical School. Prior to his time at MIT, he was a psychiatrist at Cambridge Hospital.
