Moving Forward: Sustainability and Transferability
In 2005, National Linguistic & Cultural Programs, National Diversity began researching translation vendors, technology as well as processes to advance a centralized virtural translation environment. The virtual environment has the potential to incorporate our standardized quality translation process virtually, thereby, facilitation universal access. As recommended by the Translation Services Research Agenda and the National Coalition for Quality Translations in Health Care, this effort can sustain and promote progess in quality translations throughout the health care industry in any language, for any request.
By advancing a virtual translation environment, Kaiser Permanente is enabling the potential for:
- Broad access to a shared translation management system
- Usage of the standardized quality translation process
- Access to a centralized repository of translated information and materials
This will crease a common platform for the provision of high quality and affordable in-language materials; servicing all Kaiser Permanente Regions as well as external health care organizations, public institutions, community-based organizations and other parties.
