NCQA's Research Department is responsible for expanding and enhancing the use of health plan-quality data. Research is conducted, in large part, in collaboration with academic research groups and with private and public organizations, and its aim is to advance NCQA’s mission and vision by providing valuable information to improve health care.

NCQA maintains several databases on health care quality for MCOs and physician groups. Databases are available for use by researchers. Several examples of past collaborations or use of NCQA data sources can be found online.
