NCQA QUALITY COMPASS ®2010: COMMERICAL
HEALTH CARE DATA TO POWER CHANGE
WASHINGTON, D.C.— The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recently released Quality Compass 2010: Commercial, the nation’s leading database of comparable information on clinical performance and patient experience for 404 commercial health plan products serving 94 million covered lives.
Quality Compass 2010: Commercial compares the clinical performance of participating HMO, POS and PPO health plans and is the most comprehensive database containing Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) and Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) data in America. The tool allows users to examine quality improvement, benchmark plans’ performance and facilitate competitor analysis. Quality Compass 2010: Commercial also provides state, regional and national benchmarks.

“Health plans, employers, pharmaceutical companies and others rely on the commercial edition of Quality Compass to guide their quality improvement initiatives,” said NCQA Chief Information Officer Rick Moore. “I am pleased that NCQA has again offered this tool to help purchasers make sound decisions and health plans pinpoint areas of improvement.”
In late October, NCQA will release Quality Compass 2010: RRU Quality Index (Commercial). This new product incorporates Relative Resource Use (RRU) measures that capture the total number of resources health plans use to treat patients with select chronic conditions, and aligns their utilization with their HEDIS quality results.
