About the Program
“Relative Resource Use” measures – which will be publicly reported for the first time this fall – indicate how intensively a health plan uses health care resources (such as physician and hospital stays) to care for its members, compared with the average for plans in the same region, serving similar members. When used in tandem with quality measures, RRU measure results make it possible to talk about quality and cost simultaneously. For purchasers, RRU measures offer a view into how a plan uses resources when it delivers care. For plans, RRU measures offer new understanding of how their use of resources compares with that of their competitors. Most importantly, RRU data – along with quality data – give purchasers and plans a basis for discussions about the value that plans offer for the health care dollar.
This one-hour webinar is designed for health plan and purchaser executives (CEOs, COOs, CFOs, CMOs, etc.) and benefit managers that need an overview of RRU and insight into its role in measuring value, and would like an opportunity to ask questions. Expert faculty are Benjamin Hamlin, Senior Project Manager and Research Scientist; Cindy Ottone, Director of HEDIS® Policy; and William Tulloch, Director of Customer Resources.
Additional webinars will be offered beginning August 3 for those that are familiar with HEDIS (such as Quality Improvement/Management Directors and anyone with hands-on experience in collecting and submitting HEDIS data). Information will be posted in the next few days.
