DR. PAMELA HYMEL OF CISCO SYSTEMS JOINS NCQA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
WASHINGTON—The National Committee for Quality Assurance’s newest member of its Board of Directors is Pamela Hymel, MD, Corporate Medical Director for Cisco Systems. Dr. Hymel was elected to the NCQA Board during the December 17, 2009 Board of Directors meeting and began her service on January 1, 2010.
Dr. Hymel has extensive experience leading the health care strategy of Cisco Systems, the world’s leading supplier of networking equipment for the Internet. Dr. Hymel is responsible for the strategy and design of HealthConnections, a health and productivity program for Cisco employees worldwide. She is also responsible for Cisco's on-site health clinic and childcare center.

O’Kane. “Her experience integrating wellness into the workplace will help support the spread of wellness programs. I’m looking forward to her contributions as a Board member.”
Previously, Dr. Hymel was Senior Vice President of Sedgwick CMS and Vice President of Human Resources, Medical Services and HR systems at Hughes Electronics. Her responsibilities included employee benefits, medical services, disability management, workers’ compensation and development of Fidelity employee-related services. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), on whose board she currently sits. Dr. Hymel received a master’s degree in public health at Tulane University and an M.D. at Louisiana State University Medical School.
