Harnessing the Promise of Health IT to Improve Care Coordination

NCQA’s 4th National Annual Policy conference, Harnessing the Promise of Health IT to Improve Care Coordination, was held Friday, December 4 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. Many of the 100 attendees said it was a stimulating and well-run forum on how information technology can support quality.

Keynote speaker Dr. David Eddy of Archimedes issued a provocative challenge to rethink basic definitions of how health care is measured and managed.  Luncheon speaker Dr. David Blumenthal, Director of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, held the audience's rapt attention as he outlined how the federal government is supporting health information technology.

NCQA leaders moderated four panel discussions of the past, present and future of health care IT. Panel topics were:

Putting IT to Work

The Role of Extension Centers

Improving Quality Measurement Through Health IT

From PCMH to Accountable Care Organizations
