The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), whose mission is to improve the quality of health care, is seeking a Research Scientist.
Job Description:
The Research Scientist will provide senior level quantitative analysis, technical assistance, and project leadership to the Analysis/Research and Performance Measurement department, and other areas of NCQA as needed. The position will implement NCQA’s projects consistent with the mission and vision of the organization including the development of scientific manuscripts, as well as making key contributions to collaborative research projects with corporate, university and government research groups.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This person will provide statistical and methodological guidance for all NCQA programs and projects. He or she will also recommend statistical approaches and policies for evaluating performance at physician and health plan level, and upport enhancements to current products and/or development of new products by providing expert statistical consultation and by ensuring consistent use and interpretation of NCQA data.
Moreover, this person will provide technical lead (methodological, statistical and SAS programming) on several large projects including USNEWS, IHA, and SNP & HOS. He or she will also oversee analysis of accreditation, HEDIS, CAHPS, HOS, and other data collected by NCQA to support internal and external products, and will oversee quality assurance efforts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all work generated by the analysis staff. In addition, this person will provide statistical expertise to other departments in quality assurance efforts.
Lastly, this person will provide primary statistical support for NCQA research grants and contracts most often in the areas of sampling, variance estimation, risk adjustment modeling, weighting, and scoring; and/or for technical/complex analyses which may have organizational or PR impact.
Qualifications:
8 years quantitative analysis, project direction and management.
Publications in peer reviewed literature speaking/teaching experience.
5 years statistical development experience
Heath care analysis experience
Education:
Ph. D in field related to health services research, economics, epidemiology, statistics or equivalent discipline.
