The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), whose mission is to improve the quality of health care, is seeking a Associate General Counsel.
Job Description:
The Associate General Counsel will function as a senior attorney in the Office of the General Counsel. He or she will advise internal staff and interact with external parties on behalf of the Office of the General Counsel regarding contracts, protection of intellectual property, accreditation matters, regulatory issues (with an emphasis on healthcare law), corporate business issues and other issues that may arise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This person will negotiate and draft contracts, letters of intent, confidentiality agreements and other agreements related to NCQA’s products, strategic initiatives, research programs, and other on-going business activities. This person has primary responsibility for providing legal services to RADD and advising accreditation with respect to negotiation of standard accreditation and certification contracts. In the General Counsel’s absence, this person is authorized to represent the General Counsel at senior leadership team meetings and to otherwise take necessary legal action to protect the interests of NCQA.
In addition, this person will represent the Legal Department on the Policy Discussion Group (PDG) and the Structural Issues Group (SIG). He or she will function as the General Counsel’s back-up representative for the Standards Committee, ROC, Reconsideration and other accreditation committees.
